CVL634: Prestressed Concrete Design - Summer Term - MTE and CA

The CA Marks for the subject CVL634: Prestressed Concrete Design will be awarded based on the performance in the Class Tests. The syllabus for the four class tests is given below:

  1. Test 1: Short term and long term deflections of cracked and uncracked members.
  2. Test 2: Limit analysis of prestressed concrete beam section for flexure, shear and torsion.
  3. Test 3: Transfer of prestress in pre-tensioned and post-tensioned members.
  4. Test 4: Elastic Design of rectangular prestressed concrete beam sections
  5. Test 5: Introduction to design of continuous beams, piles and sleepers
The syllabus for Mid-Term Exam is as follows:
  1. Materials, methods and systems of prestressing and Indian Standard recommendations.
  2. Short term and long term deflections of cracked and uncracked members
  3. Elastic analysis of prestressed concrete beams with different cable profiles.
  4. Analysis of prestressed concrete beam section for flexure, shear and torsion.

CVL634: Prestressed Concrete Design - Programming Assignment

The student who wishes to get bonus points for improving the CA marks can submit programming assignment listed below.
  1. Write a program to draw the variation of prestress due to the losses along the length of the member.
  2. Write a program to draw the line of pressure in a prestressed concrete member
  3. Write a program to calculation deflection and draw the deflected shape of a prestressed concrete member for different cable profile (Atleast 2)
  4. Write a program to perform limit state analysis of a prestressed concrete section to find the Ultimate Moment of resistance (Iterative - Strain compatibility method)
  5. Write a program to calculate eccentricity using Magnel's Graphical Method.
  6. Write a program to plot the trajectories of principal stresses in a prestressed concrete member.
The first four submissions only will be given bonus points as per the following criteria
  1. First Submission - 10 points
  2. Second Submission - 7 points
  3. Third Submission - 5 points
  4. Fourth Submission - 3 marks
The choice of the programming language lies with the student. The programs should be well commented, interactive and self explanatory.
The program can be submitted through email (ruban.sugumar@sharda.ac.in).
Note: More topics may be added in future. Keep updated.
